Amy Dickinson, Co-Owner of Gazebo

How long have you worked at Gazebo?

I worked for Judith back in the late 90’s. I left and spent 15 years in corporate sales before “coming home” to Gazebo in the summer of 2015.

What is your favorite part of the job?

My very favorite thing is seeing the transformation in a customer’s silhouette and confidence when we get them in a bra that fits correctly!

What is your best memory from working as a Gazeboite?

When Donna and I officially took over ownership of the store! It was gratifying to see all of our hard work come to fruition and the response from our customers and community was just amazing.

Co-Owner

How did you start?

I responded to a help wanted ad on Craig’s List.

What is your favorite part of your job?

The people I work with every day and the customers we help. It is a very pleasant place to be!

What is your best memory so far?

When one of my customers walked up to me on the sidewalk…she showed me her “new” profile in the bra I had sold her and she was so proud of the way she looked. She looked beautiful!

I have worked at Gazebo on and off for so many years and through so many life transitions that it’s hard to remember!

What is your favorite part of your job?

Finding the just the thing to make my customer look and feel fantastic!

How did you find Gazebo?

Having been previously fitted for bras at a specialty shop, I sought out Gazebo when I was in need. I asked about employment, and was excited to join the team a few months later.

What do you like best about your job?

All the pretty bras! And helping people feel more comfortable and confident in their bodies!

Emma Dostal, Manager at Gazebo

How long have you worked at Gazebo?

All my life.

How did you start at Gazebo?

I walked in one summer night and fell in love with the store. I returned a week later and applied for a job, the rest is history.

What is your favorite part of the job?

The customers are my favorite part of the job (most of the time) and the respect that I receive for my skills and knowledge.

What is your best memory from working as a Gazeboite?

One day while out on a break I found myself walking around down town. I passed two women and one said to the other “there she is, that’s the Bra Goddess!” Needless to say the title stuck, and I am still referred to as the Bra Goddess!

Inclusivity at Gazebo

Gazebo is proud to be a Transgender Safe Space.

We have always been proud allies to the LGBTQ community. Gazebo is pleased to offer fittings for our transgender customers. Whether you are looking for a bra or a chest binder, we are happy to help. We strive to carry a wide range of sizes and styles to suit every body and gender expression.

Wheelchair Accessible and Service Animal Friendly

When the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was enacted in 1990, Gazebo took a proactive stance. Gazebo founder Judith Fine worked with the City of Northampton to create the CAN Program, which offered generous grants to downtown businesses to become more accessible.

Upon enactment of the CAN Program, Gazebo’s front entry had an automatic door opener installed.  The entire store is spaciously laid out in such a way that makes it easy to navigated by wheelchairs, scooters and strollers. Our dressing rooms are spacious as well, and allow for easy access, and of course service animals are welcome.

Gazebo won one of the first Stavros Center Awards for businesses that helped to make a difference to people with disabilities.
